| The Mayors Great Spaces Initiative has been set up to ensure that public space projects are excellently designed and that the right resources are in place to drive forward their delivery to the highest standard. It will help transform some of London's recognised and lesser known streets, squares, parks and riverside walks into places Londoners and visitors will want to use and enjoy all year round. The Initiative is part of London's Great Outdoors, the Mayor's vision to transform the everyday experience of London's outdoor spaces and improve public space across London. The Design Support Seminar is an opportunity to learn about the Great Spaces Initiative and to discuss the challenges of delivering excellent public space projects. The Mayor welcomed the attendees, a key note speaker, the historian Dr. Tristram Hunt, presented a critique of London’s public realm and a panel of experts, chaired by Fred Manson, received questions exploring the delivery of projects.
